Donald Mowat has been awarded The Sovereign's Medal for Volunteers, a Canadian decoration intended to honour volunteers who have made a significant and continual contribution to their community, either in Canada or abroad. The award was presented by Zaib Shaikh, the Canadian Consul General of Los Angeles, at a recent ceremony at the consulate.

Donald's citation reads: One of Hollywood's leading makeup artists, Donald Mowat volunteers with the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Los Angeles' Community Outreach program to share his craft with inner-city high school students. Through his demonstrations and mentorship, he has empowered students to find their voices and explore career opportunities in the arts.
